Toward a world where capital works for people
Covent Capital Partners' core business is equity investment in deep tech companies and ventures, with the goal of helping them grow.
We mainly review companies at Series B and later.
We invest in deep tech companies in Korea and abroad and encourage them to create social impact.
We hope every business creates social impact, and that capital comes to work for people.
We make equity investments in Korean and global deep tech companies where our know-how adds value, and encourage them to create social impact.
START-UP
We were a startup too. Our processes are built to keep pace with the ventures we back.
KNOW-THINGS
Experience across industry, finance and academia — we understand the science and the business, and we are finance professionals.
GOOD & SMART
We care about doing good, and we have the capability to actually get it done.
GLOBAL BRIDGE
With partner VCs in three countries, we are ready to take portfolio companies global — and we work in four languages.
Deep tech is
a method.
Deep tech is not a technology. It is a way of solving problems.
We define deep tech as building workable solutions through problem orientation, method and the convergence of technologies. Deep tech companies are those that practice this through the DBTL (Design–Build–Test–Learn) cycle.
What guides Covent in finding companies to invest in?
Team
What intangible assets does the team hold? Do its members share the same vision and mission?
Market
What is the essential nature of the market it is entering? What role does it aim to play in that market's value chain?
Product / Service
What competitive edge and differentiation does it have? Does it meet real customer needs?
Financial Result
What economic outcome will the product create in its market? Must the company grow that market alone, or are others growing it too?
Is it something customers can't do without, or merely nice to have? Do they pay for it like medicine, or like supplements?
Does it cut the customer's costs, or help them make money? Helping customers earn is what makes the cost disappear.
What do customers actually say? What exactly do they need? Friends only offer praise and encouragement — we have to ask about specific past behaviour.
Does the product make a meaningful difference to the customer? If it disappeared, how would the customer be affected?
The Mom Test is drawn from Rob Fitzpatrick's book of the same name.
